Fat Free & Dairy Free Strawberry Mousse

Fat Free & Dairy Free Strawberry Mousse

This recipe is a little bit mousse and a little bit smoothie!  We both love strawberries! It's one of the fruits we both love. What's also great, is that it's fast to make, the ingredients are easy to find, and it's fat free. Of course it's dairy free too...

Our aunt saw Chef Wolfgang Puck make this on a tv show and she bought the same equipment he used for this recipe. The hand mixer was really fun to use!

We have a special guest on this blog post. Our babysitter Susie! She was a great help and lots of fun! Thank you Susie!

Enjoy!

The ingredients are inexpensive and healthy! Egg whites, Agave and Strawberries (you can use any type of berry). We both worked on styling this shot - it was fun! We learned that food stylists use red lipstick to touch up strawberries to make them look so red and beautiful! We didn't have any red lipstick in the house to try it ourselves.. Here is some fun information on food styling secrets!
Here is the Wolfgang Puck hand blender/mixer - we had fun styling this shot too!
Here we are - we always start a recipe divying up the work!
For this recipe, we learned to crack eggs and separate whites and yolks! We were a bit nervous at first - but then we got the hang of it! Alexa is very focused here!
Emma quickly mastered cracking and separating!
Alexa moving the yolks back and....
.....forth!
Emma started cutting the strawberries while Susie looked on. She had a lot of strawberries to cut! Go Emma go!
Here's Susie! We have so much fun with her!
Watch those fingers, Emma!
While Emma was cutting dozens of strawberries....Alexa was cracking a ton of eggs! Go Alexa Go!
Pureeing the strawberries! We came out with a silly song to sing along with the noise of the hand blender.

We filled a large bowl with all our yummy puree!
Alexa showing off all of our hard work!
Blog break: Time to taste the puree! Yum!
Alexa gives it one thumb up!
OK, I need another taste!
Wait....I can get more if I use my whole hand and not just a finger!
Time to whisk the egg whites. We gave the yolks to Susie to take home. We will have to ask her what she made with all the yolks! We hate wasting food!
Emma started us off whisking - we had so many whites, so we had a long way to go!
So cool! You can see them expand and puff up!
Look! So white and fluffy!
No sugar in this dessert! We added a bit of agave for natural sweetness. Yum!
The folding! We learned how to fold egg whites into the strawberry puree. We were very focused. The whites got so fluffy, our bowls were too small for this recipe! Alexa started us off.
Emma folding on the egg whites. The mousse is now forming - and in a beautiful pink color - we love the color pink!
Look how beautiful this mousse looks! It's light and fluffy and pink! What a great end of day dessert to celebrate Spring!
Thumbs up on this recipe - we didn't plate this dessert, we just ate it out of the bowl :) We gave some to Susie and we put the rest in plastic storage in the fridge.

We thought is was so light and fluffy, and sweet! We would Definitely make this again.
Our mom's suggestion - it would taste great on a slice of a chocolate cake!
